I started baking in college as something completely separate from my coursework because it quickly became the creative outlet I looked forward to. Between classes and everyday life, baking gave me a way to unwind, experiment with flavors, and learn through trial and error. What made it even more meaningful is that everything I made was homemade and made from scratch. Each batch took time and dedication—from measuring and prepping, to mixing, tasting, adjusting, and continuing until it felt just right.
Over time, that hobby turned into a real passion. I truly loved the process as much as the results. During those years, I worked hard to graduate with seven associate degrees in just three years: AA in Psychology; AA in Child & Adolescent Development; AA in Gender, Ethnicity and Multicultural Studies; AA in Anthropology; AA in Humanities; AA in Social & Behavioral Sciences; and an AS in Natural Sciences. I was also dealing with health issues that caused chronic pain, and baking became my outlet and brought me so much joy—especially when I could take what I made to my job on campus and share it with my whole office. Seeing their smiles and hearing how much they enjoyed it was the fuel that made me want to expand my baking and share it with more people.
I also genuinely love learning and expanding my knowledge, and that mindset translates directly into my baking. As I learn more, I keep improving—tweaking flavors, testing ideas, and refining my baked goods so they’re the best version of what I envisioned.
After graduating with my Bachelor’s in Psychology, I decided to take a break from school so I could focus fully on what I love. That’s when I started building Ezzie Bakes Cookies, Coffee & More. Friends and family encouraged me to turn my passion into a business, and my website is how you can easily order treats made with care and lots of love. Every order is prepared with intention because everything is homemade, made from scratch, and made with the time and dedication that each batch deserves—from prep to packaging, and from getting it ready to getting it to you.
My family has been a huge part of why I’m able to keep going and growing. My mom encouraged me from the beginning to sell what I make—she works for herself, and growing up she and my dad ran a business together, which inspired me and reminded me what perseverance looks like. She’s someone I trust whole-heartedly to support me and believe in me. My brother has also kept me motivated, not only because he enjoys what I bake (even if he doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth), but because he also sells cold-pressed juices and truly puts in the work and hustles to expand his business with dedication to healthy, quality products. My dad is a big supporter and loves seeing me doing the work to share what I make—he’s helped me get supplies I need, and he does his best to make sure I have accommodations in the kitchen due to my joint health issues. And my little sister has been one of my biggest cheerleaders—she thinks it’s so cool that I’m doing what I love and turning it into something real.
As I keep growing, I want to keep sharing my journey while also expanding what I offer—new flavors and more options based on what my customers want most. Thank you for supporting my small business and helping me do what I love, one batch at a time.
